APCASO's Programme Strategies
APCASO aims to increase the capacity of CBOs and NGOs to respond to HIV/AIDS and develop co-ordinated regional response through the following strategies:

Capacity Building
These are programmes and activities that increase the awareness and understanding of CBOs and NGOs on HIV-related issues and enable them to strengthen their organisational capability to deal with these issues. These include skills-building training (for example advocacy, programme planning, training and networking skills), issue-specific workshops or seminars (for example, human rights and the greater involvement of people living with HIV/AIDS), and twinning and exchange activities. Capacity building also includes linking groups with the appropriate technical support.

Advocacy
This includes identification, discussion, and articulation of positions on urgent and critical issues, and making these positions known to relevant parties. APCASO, on its own or in conjunction with ICASO and other regional secretariats, promote these positions with the public, governments, national AIDS programmes, donors, non-governmental development organisations, and international agencies through various forums as previously cited.

Networking
This refer to strengthening the APCASO network by liaising with CBOs/NGOs in the region; promoting services and programmes supported by NFPs, COR and RS; planning and hosting regional meetings of NGOs; supporting the development of more CBOs and NGOs who link with APCASO; and, strengthening ties between and among them.
