UNAIDS's Fact Sheet on An Overview of HIV/AIDS-Related Stigma and Discrimination http://www.unaids.org/fact_sheets/files/FSstigma_en.html provides an overview of HIV/AIDS-related stigma and discrimination, with some references to gender. It outlines the nature of stigma and discrimination; discusses stigma, discrimination and human rights, and provides ideas on human-rights based actions to address the issues.

World Health Organisation (WHO)'s Women and HIV/AIDS: Fact Sheet No 242 http://www.who.int/inf-fs/en/fact242.html published in 2000 provides the overview of the statistics of the epidemic, women's vulnerability to HIV infection, and the need for a gender-based response.

Fact sheet on Gender and HIV/AIDS produced by UNAIDS in 2001 informs on how Gender roles and relations powerfully influence the course and impact of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Click on the pdf version of the file.

UNICEF Fact Sheet on HIV and Infant Feeding was produced by UNICEF in September 2002 based on WHO/UNICEF/UNAIDS policy guidelines on infant feeding. It accommodates all infant feeding options for mothers with HIV. Central to these guidelines is the right of mothers to make decisions, on the basis of full and clear information, on what is best for them and their infants, and to be supported in carrying out those decisions. NEW - (Colombo, 19 January 2007) The AIDS Society of Asia and the Pacific (ASAP) and UNAIDS have met today in Colombo, Sri Lanka as members of the International Advisory Committee (IAC) to the 8 th International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific (ICAAP) which is scheduled to be held in Colombo between 19-23 August 2007.
