APCASO Five Year Strategic Plan 2003-2007 being implemented, with focus on 3 programmes - advocacy, capacity building and networking

Governance
A Regional Management Meeting was held in July 2003
Recruitment of 2 new Council of Representative (COR) members from Japan and Sri Lanka and 6 National Focal Points (NFPs) from Mongolia, Cambodia, India, Bangladesh, Thailand & Indonesia

UNGASS
Workshops on “Making UNGASS Work” held in Bangladesh (September 2003), Indonesia (November 2003) and Cambodia (December 2003)
Workshops held to introduce and familiarise participants to the commitments made by their government in the Declaration of Commitmet (DoC) and assist in developing advocacy skills needed for effective responses towards HIV/AIDS
Workshop in Fiji sponsored by UNAIDS to develop a framework for action for the Pacific Islands
Skills building session at the Asia Pacific Community Forum on HIV/AIDS, January 2004 on “Making UNGASS Work: Looking Towards 2005”

Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria
continues to advocate for civil society issues raised at Global Fund Board meetings in the Asia Pacific region and at Committees

APCASO, being the secretariat for the Seven Sisters Coalition, organised and delivered the Seven Sisters Asia Pacific Alternative Community Forum from 12-14 January 2004

NEW - (Colombo, 19 January 2007) The AIDS Society of Asia and the Pacific (ASAP) and UNAIDS have met today in Colombo, Sri Lanka as members of the International Advisory Committee (IAC) to the 8 th International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific (ICAAP) which is scheduled to be held in Colombo between 19-23 August 2007.
